My old dears 1.8 p reg hlx has started to make a faint knocking noise from the engine bay when you are slowing down. The lower the speed and the lower the revs the louder it gets.

Any ideas???

Im thinking driveshaft but im a dumbass when its comes to matching noises with faults.

Does it change depending on if the clutch is pressed or not? Most likely CV joint, wheel bearing or just the gearbox showing its age..

Does braking change the noise?

Try tightening the wheel nuts up :)

(We've all done it)

Ian.

Thx

Its got to be the cv joint as the noise stops with the clutch in and is even worse if i drive in a circle.

Any ideas on how easy/hard this job is to do? any rough part prices??
