Technical Faded bumpers...s***

I know there are other threads on this, including one I made myself x years ago, but this is just a joke:



Having had several quotes around the £400 mark (my local guy is fully booked until Feb 2014 who quoted £130 for both), I refuse to have it done seeing as that is close to half the value of my car.

it just ruins it for me, looks like a bag of ****, and the worst thing is I can't do anything about it. With my old car, I spent days t-cutting and the paintwork was spot on (even got more for it on the basis it was actually red).

Screw modern paint jobs!!!!!

It is pretty **** poor but thats red for you. i would love a red car but I know they will inevitably fade over the years, luckily I sold my last red car before the fading came in. But how old is your car? I saw an 06 corsa in red the other day and it was faded to hell!

Mines exactly the same mate, been quoted £150 to respray the back bumper.

The spoiler is worse but im toying with getting that wrapped in black

Mines the same :/ im lucky tho my mate has a garage and a portable spray booth. He said he'l do mine as long as I get the paint, which iv priced up from a local supplier for 40quid.

That is stupidly faded mate! My rear bumper is bad but i cant capture it on camera!
It is really, really odd that it fades on the plastic and not the metal. Thats how it use to be on the really old vauxhalls, the metal panels use to fade but the plastic would stay bright!
I dont understand it!
The only thing to stop the fading is to keep it constantly topped up with a uv protection sealent or wax.

I have a red GP Sporting, MY2006. It has faded too, but T-cut masked it well. Needs plenty of patience though... Good luck.

I've got an 07 in red and its fine; I do however keep it in the garage and it gets waxed every month or so. When I do have to park it out all day I try and find a shady spot.

£400 isn't that bad if it is totally ruining the car. Who knows, you might get lucky and someone will run into you at low speed. Just enough to need a new bumper but not cause any other damage.

Its under the lacquer so no.

Noone seems to understand, once the red has gone under the lacquer, you cannot bring it back.

I appreciate your input and im guessing everyone else does but it has been discussed several times about the red and orange.

Yeah pretty much what's been said above, I've had this machine polished twice and clayed.

It's a shame my local guy is so busy as I trust him and he is so much cheaper due to having his own spray booth.

I just wish I could t-cut it like the old cars but not a prayer - under the laquer.

This is an 06 car by the way....no time if you ask me.

Who recommended clay? That's for removing impurities not cutting through faded paint

Pretty sure noone reads anything that anyone says.
The fact that you are using the term 'mop' means you don't know an awful lot.
A lancia with red paint will be a single stage paint.
The red on our puntos has lacquer, so unless you want to be 'mopping' the lacquer off then you need a respray.
