Evening all, my subwoofer has blown the foam support and make an unbearable farting noise now. I've pulled the fuse so it is now inactive.

Looking for a replacement 13cm woofer has proved fruitless. The factory woofer is a dual coil design with each coil a nominal 2 ohms. If I could find one a Dayton MX5-22 https://www.soundimports.eu/it/dayton-audio-mx5-22.html would be perfect. But the only woofers available are 2 x 4 ohm woofers such as Visaton W130 https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/5-inch-s...ekvvK8T77L-0JKbr6mp6bv7zwh6IBxLDuXfuC3pSBjkdm

So audio geniuses would the 2 x 4 ohm woofers be effective driven off the factory amp? Would it be noticeably less powerful?

How about repair of the original foam support with a kit from Amazon? Has anybody had success doing this before? https://amzn.eu/d/7ZUisWL

Well just to update. It is possible to re-foam the subwoofer. I bought a 5" kit from Amazon which came with a tube of glue. I was going to produce a little how to guide but it is self explanatory and I made quite a mess of things and covered my cone in glue so I won't be showing that to everyone 😆. No more farting noise and I have my sub back working for less than £10
