Hello all.

whats happened is i hit a pothole and i felt something break pretty disgustingly. managed to drive home with lots of knocking/rubbing/generally unhealthy sounds to take a look, it looks like my front drivers side wheel has moved forwards in the arch, allowing the tyre to rub on the inside edge of the front bumber. (pretty bad).

as well as that i took it to a garage and had a look at it on some ramps neither me nor the mechanic could spot any visiable breaks, bends or any other damage. Mechanic suggested the broken parts could be internal parts of the driveshaft, saying there could be too much or too little play within it. i dont know about that, but the car drives exactly the same, its just the wheel seems to be able to move forwards and backwards within the arch.

anyone have any ideas?! Its going in tommorow for a proper investigation and im hoping i've not just had my car written off by a pothole that ive been paying road tax for.

john.

If the wheel has moved then its a suspension issue rather than driveshaft.

Either you've bust the lower balljoint or bent the wishbone or bent the subframe.
