I need some advice. I`ve just got a `96 Bravo 1.4SX, I was quite happy until I took it for its first service and they quote me £800 quid for repairs.
How easy is it to change the Door check strap?
Brake pipes? and Sump,(its corroded and Leaking apparently)? if its not to easy can anyone recommend a good garage in the East Kibride/ Glasgow area that doesn`t charge £47 an hour.

Door check strap do a search on here (search button on the front page),type in "door check strap" and pick the Match button - just did it and a few good posts came up from 2000 about the original Bravos having a weak mounting on this, a post near the bottom gave brief instructions on replacing... :)

The sump on my 1.6 is corroding and will need replacing this year, I was told about £150 by the mechanic... but he certainly doesn't charge £40+ an hour...

Can't help with the rest i'm afraid.. ;)

Re: Re: Expensive service

I dont mean this derogatively, but if you need ask how easy it is to fit new brake pipes then dont do them, get a garage to do it. You will need the car in the air as well.

The door check strap is fairly straight forward, check out the Bravo Guide on how to get the trim off the door etc if you need to.

The sump is a simply case of bolts and gasket, but its a job that is much easier up in the air than on the ground.
