In Feb 2004 had to get new standard exhaust - from cat backwards - replaced on my Brava 1.8 ELX. Baffle had gone in one of boxes. £176 all in.
Baffle now gone in replacement exhaust (in box nearest to cat)! Fortunately system was covered by 2 year warranty so was replaced at no cost to me.
Dealer was happy to replace the exhaust - presumably because manufacturer would be picking up tab.
However, when I went to collect car the guarantee/receipt now had written on it "May not be covered if cat turns out to have caused failure." I guess the faulty exhaust goes back to maker for checking. The garage said that the cat seemed OK so hopefully I will not be hearing from them.
What's the chances of the cat doing damage to the rest of the system? The guy working on my car said that sometimes material from the cat can damage the adjacent box. Is this bullsh*t or true?
Cheers
