Hi there guys,

just wondering, can i simply replace the middle centre on my 100hp with this:

http://www.gazzellaracing.com/product.php?productid=19831&cat=1267&page=1

i have done this on other cars ive owned loads of times, just wondered if anyones done it and what it sound like and you have any probs with MOT's :)
its cheaper than a new back box and will make a difference sound wise....

the other option is this the back box, more expensive, not really what i want to spend either:

Although I've never used them, Gazella Racing have a very poor reputation.

I'm sure you can achieve similar results by simply cutting the silencer out and welding a straight pipe in its place. You could even clamp it if you ever wanted to return it to standard.

Fair enough, I mean a pipe is a pipe so that won't matter, I want to be able to easily put back o standard if needed

The problem with replacing the middle box with a straight through pipe is it makes the car very noisy, look on youtube for Ragazzon/supersprint equipped 100HP and you'll see what I mean.

all the videos ive found are combinations of the middle pipe and backbox, i haven't seen the standard one with a straight thought pipe on it

I'm sure Apsee could help you with this as he has done the centre pipe exchange on his 100hp

mmm not sure about it, thanks for the post though! just what i needed :)
what do you think? i think high up the rev's it would sound pretty devilish lol
Personally, I think you risk it sounding a bit "chavvy". The car in the video doesn't have to be revved very hard before it's making a hell of a lot of noise, that could get pretty irritating (to both you and everyone else) around town and in traffic. For me, part of the 100HP's appeal is its ability to surprise people in far bigger cars, you'd lose that with a loud exhaust (n).

Also, I'm not sure what the official MOT stance is on the noise the 100HP makes with a straight through centre section. I remember that Harey, the guy whose 100HP is in the video, used wire-wool to remove the "for racing use only" markings off of the straight through centre section he fitted to his car.

Matt, the MOT stance would be a fail unless you know the guy and he will do a "mates" MOT. That Video is Harey's Panda (sold now) and the center pipe he had had a stamp on the center pipe itself "Race Only" - it was not road legal.

And, yes.... since with Panda you get most bhp after 4.000rpm, that center pipe would load like concord on a take off. I doubt you will ever wanna do 80mph on motorway for long unless you happy going deaf :D

You could always use the standard 500 centre pipe which doesn't have a silencer or the "off road use only" stamped on it.

so what is the cheapest exhaust you can get for them? lol
obviously if it came to an MOT i would change the exhaust to suite like i always do :p

after seeing the sound it makes without the silencer i think its fair to say, man that is a horrific sound, although might sound great down a tunnel tbf its nasty, so im going to change the exhaust instead lol

Good choice, mate. A few people have the Ragazzon back box fitted to their 100HPs. It sounds better than stock, but much more civilised than a straight through centre section, in my opinion. There a a few videos on YT of people's 100HPs with Ragazzon back boxes fitted.

Here's one:
