MOT failure due to 'Steering system has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel'.

The tester could'nt comment on what exactly he thought the culprit was without investigation - Which is fair.
I can feel a notch for want of words with a bit of play each side of centre. This is with engine on or off.
I going to book her in to be investigated but does any Multipla pro here have a good idea of the issue so know what sort of bill to be expecting?
(year '00).

Many thanks

Mike

Track rod ends ? £25 a side or play in the rack itself but the outer sections are available seperate .......i think.
If you split the ball joint on the end of the steering rack you can push pull to see if its the rack or poss the ball joint itself ( both sides) .
