Hi. My fiat 500l is flashing several warning lights at me, often several at once.

-stop start unavailable comes and goes at same time as check engine comes on)
- check engine (comes and goes- this was the latest warning light to come on)
- check glow plugs (comes and goes)
- insufficient oil pressure (comes and goes)
- tyre pressure (constantly comes on even after tyres filled and reset done).

I only had a new airbag module fitted a couple of months ago.

Also, I'm guessing I have an oil leak- see pic... this would explain insufficient oil pressure if it is indeed a leak.

help!!

Hi :)

My suspicion would be..

Either a failing battery ( as it 1st cranks the engine sensors are robbed of power.. and flag faults)

Or a common wiring problem.. several options there.. but not expensive

Your glowplug warning could be the only proper fault :)

Oil leak? Do you see anything obvious when checking the fluid levels?

Charlie - near the M4

So what's the thing I should do first do you reckon? Don't want to go throwing money around if I don't need to, but if there's potentially a few different issues I don't know where to start 😬

My 2012 is still on its factory battery

Yours might be too ?

If its over 3 years old.. you cannot assume its still great

How often are these warnings coming on ? And at what point.. ?
Starting the engine.. at junctions..over bumps...???

Only time my modern FIATs have given ANY warnings are when Ive 'rushed' a start.. so sensor voltage has dropped

Tell me more :)

Well, took it to a fiat dealership today. They did a part diagnostic and found my oil was completely empty! This is a shock as it passed the mot only last month! When it had plenty then. They refilled the oil and turned off the oil and engine management lights and told me to come back if the engine light came back on... we'll, before I'd got to the end of the road, back on it came, but as the garage had now shut I'll have to take it back tomorrow. Arrrrrg! Thinking the worst- how much is a new diesel engine if its knackered? 😬

Who did the MOT?

I dont think oil or coolant are normally an MOT item... ( thats the drivers job)

BUT being a Diesel they often check due to the Stesses the Diesel MOT can see

You showed pics of oily tarmac... but gave no indication how much oil you are adding..or how often

The oil cooler could be damaged.. or the sump pan (holds the oil at bottom of engine) neither are a disaster.. and no garage would have just refilled if it was pouring back out

Any local garage can advise on leaks before wasting more money at a main dealer
( vauxhall and Suzuki use the same Diesel engine)

Just the engine check light that came back on ?

Any of the others

stop start unavailable
insufficient oil pressure
tyre pressure
check glow plugs
