We have a April 2017 Ducato Maxi based motorhome it has a Euro 6 150 multijet engine.
The Red oil warning light always go out as soon as you start it and it stays out. But in the display area in the centre of the instrument Amber Oil Can with an exclamation light at the side of it comes on. This is very intermittent, sometimes it will come on and go off after a few seconds and other times it can stay for about 30 minutes or it will stay on until we stop, but when we start the engine again there is no sign of it The dealer has just had the van back for 10 days for the same fault, but the fault has just come back. Have you any ideas????

I have a 2015 Ducato and when I got it about a year ago there were like half iluminated lights showing on the dash.
Asked at dealer when in about other stuff and was told it was a common fault with the actual complete dash binacle and they changed the whole thing. To date all has been ok.
I am nearly sure I saw a post somewhere else about the same thing and there was mention of the part being about £600. ( typical Fiat prices !! )

BUT be careful, mine is at 63000 miles and burns about a litre of oil every 1000 miles so watch that dipstick. Fiat say that the oil consumption is perfectly OK !!

My last Ducato (2007 ) was bought brand new, looked after, and after 55000 miles I still never bother looking at the dipstick, Oil changed every 7000 miles ...

Fiat WILL tell you that 1litre to 1000 miles is ok.. at that mileage it is. Mine's a '66 plate and on 10k miles.. I've topped up with abt 3/4l of oil and happy with that ... but just changed oil completely anyway.. happy with the oil consumption.. it's ok.

We have a new 2018 Fiat based motorhome (bought in May) which has excatly the same symptoms i.e the amber low oil pressure warning light intermittently coming on. Our dealer referred us to Fiat Professional and we have it booked it to be done on Tuesday.

Oil pressure should be a red light.
An amber light is a warning, not yet an emergency, so not pressure. Is this an oil level warning light? First thing to do is check the handbook and tell us what it is supposed to be warning of. Then immediately check to make see if it is telling the truth.

Warning lights are colour coded.
Green - information - like lights on, indicators, etc.
Yellow - warning - needs attention soon. Engine management, rear fog lights as there are legal parameters to their use, airbags, etc.
Red - Do something now - stuff that will only get much worse if ignored. Oil pressure, alternator not charging, etc.
Then there's the one blue one, doesn't quite fit into any of the other categories, but needs to be noticed.

Thanks for that, the symbol of an oil can, with an ! and wavy line underneath in the handbook says Low Engine oil pressure warning light failure - contact Fiat

Oil level is fine, symbol is amber, its pretty much intermittent, just 500 miles

Hello
I have a 2.5tdi motor and dont use oil like you state. I returned from a UK round trip of 8500 km and did not top up. Figured I
had used about 1 litre. AWW

My 2015 180 has same problem, except a different yellow light glowed very dully when engaging cruise, as well as the green cruise light. Dealer says will replace entire dash unit as it is a common fault in the wiring. Getting done tomorrow actually.

Did Fiat resolve this issue? Reason I ask is we have just bought a 1 year old one which has the same symptoms - dealer has referred it to Fiat and we are waiting for response. Also had creamy sludge inside oil filler cap which is a bit worrying - symptom of water in the oil, which shouldn't be there as it has just been serviced.

I had major issues last year with a water leak only small on 2017 Ducato but going into the oil suspected head gasket which was replaced but didn't fix the problem i ended up having a new engine fitted Fiat had my vehicle for 4 months trying to fix this

Hi have a Sept 2019 2.3 (150) Comformatic 1800 miles from new currently in France. Low oil pressure warning light failure symbol lit up checked oil level, drove slowly back home. Just gone out now started it up no warning symbol. I understand it not low oil pressure but warning that that light has failed?

When oil is hot viscosity decreases, so oil pressure issues can be hot only issues. If oil is diluted with diesel could easily result in insufficient pressure. Early oil degradation is usually a symptom of frequent short journeys causing cycles of failed regeneration. All that being said it brand new bring it straight to a dealer if ecu has logged oil pressure light and you ignore it they could try to use that as grounds to refuse to repair engine further down the line.

Could the oil level be a little high? When hot, it expands and might go past the trigger point for notification. My Benz does that and I now fill it to 1/4 inch under full on dipstick

Ian..
