Technical  Error codes

Technical  Error codes

I need to check whether the problem i have accessing codes is due to MES on my wifes laptop or the 500X. I'll reconnect MES to my EVO in a day or two to check whether i've fixed its neutral gear sensor problem, so i'll hang fire on this thread until then. If i can't maintain a connection to the EVO then plainly its a software issue and i'll address it then.

But can't you hook it up to check if errors are back or all good?
You said last time it was on/off repeatedly...
I get between 5 and 30 seconds before MES disconnects. Its long enough to read errors but not long enough to do a test of the IAM. When its disconnected i then have to turn the program off, and restart it. So its a bit of a nuisance.

My feeling is that theres a 20% chance the IAM reset has fixed it. So i'm just waiting now, yes. I was driving the GP today, so the 500X didn't move. :)

That is a particularly strange error.
Is your MES version free trial?
Is the laptop Windows OSed? Is your diagnose tool cabled? If yes and you want, I can share a better working version of MES 4.7
My wife has an elderly laptop, that may be the problem, i can possibly try to reinstall it or use my sons laptop (i use a phone or PC but don't have a laptop). It may also be the cables on the ELM adapter i have, the USB connector feels a bit loose. Its registered version 5.1. I may take you up on the offer, so thanks, and i'll let you know if i can't get things sorted out :)

Please take care switching laptops and software versions. The licensing data can get all messed up and unless you have exported the necessary keys/data then your software will revert to the free limited version.

The are versions of illegally hacked MES floating around and the MES developers are aware of these and know how to deal with them :)

I've just seen the following , I really didn't know this. The new battery I put on has 700cca, but the old one was rated 620cca. Without a reset to the IAM the alternator has been under charging the new battery. I will now have to get that battery off, repair it and do the IAM reset again. Live and learn:)
