Hi All,

cant find it on google so I hope you guys can help me. The error of multiscan says the stering motor, on internet I find some answers pointing at the alternator of the battery?

I have a problem with the eps of my Punto. I scanned the computer, below is what multiecuscan gave me. (I have a china elm plug with the R120 removed if this is relevant info)

If it is only the motor, I have a motor without the relays, on internet I only found motors with relays (I have a new and I found "old" motors) are they compatible?

thanks!

READING ERROR CODES:
1: C1004 - Power steering motor
A problem is detected in the sensor(s) or the power steering motor assembly, as indicated by the code. Check the system fuses and the connectors and wiring for opens, shorts and weak connections. If the wiring is in good condition and the problem can be directly pointed to an internal component, it may be necessary to renew the entire servo motor assembly, since repairs are usually not possible.
The reason for this fault is that ECU has received very high signal from the sensor. The fault is present now. Take appropriate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault.

Thanks!
I've (quickly) read the treat but did not find anything about the c1004 error.

The problem is that the eps stops working when I "touch" the steering wheel. If i turn of the engine and start it again the light is off, again when I turn slightly the eps stops, the error is in the ecu and the light in the dash is on.

It looks like now its cold and "wet" (I'm Dutch so excuse me for some strange translations :) ) the problem is all the time and in the summer the problem is less than once in two weeks. (it is there but most of the time eps works)

I had disassembled the motor once (as I found some info in the treat) but I have the new motor.
Thanks for your answer that I cannot switch these because the old motors are find on the market and the new motors are not.

I did however find a link yesterday about the c1004 error in this forum (/panda/344585-eps-issues-thoughts-fault-finding-etc.html)

So I (Thinks to) know what to check first, the battery, after that I will check the grounds and hopefully this will do the trick!

Thanks all!

I was lucky. The part was under warranty :) So I went to the store where the previous owner had rebuild the steering column and they tested the column.
The problem wasn't the motor, the ecu was defect. So they replaced the ecu and now I have my EPS back!!

I have a 1075 ecu, the guy at the shop told me if you have a 1075 ecu the motor (almost) never die and you have to take a look at the grounds, the battery, the alternator or in my case the ecu.

interesting thanks
never had an ecu go on a punto only sicientos
on your year punto which is on the changeover to bigger headlights you could easily have either eps system fitted as you say
mine went but it was the torque sensor rather than the motor

Anyone knows if eps ecu 6971 and 1075 has compatible motors?
I installed an 1075 ecu and it gives the "C1004 - Power steering motor" error code. I had 6971 eps ecu previously, which works good.
I have the same symptoms as described in the opening post, I can't calibrate properly with MES:

Torque Sensor Calibration - Test runs OK
Torque Sensor Position Calibration reset - Test runs OK
Position Sensor calibration - FAILED TO EXECUTE - Incorrect Conditions for this test
System Calibration - FAILED TO EXECUTE

Important thing to know, I'm working on a project, turning mk2 to mk2B, I replaced ECM, EPS, BSI, Dashboard, radio so far. Do I have to change the motor also?

Thank you in advance!
