Hello all, this is my first post I have read what I need but if I do anything wrong my apologies.
5 days ago I purchased a fiat ducato tipper 11 plate with what I was told the iveco diesel engine.
It was from a dealer (not a main dealer) it had this problem but told me it was not something to worry about as it was the particulate filter and it should be OK by the time I drive the 100 miles home. This didn't happen. It drives more like a car than a van and the fuel economy is better than my car. It drives great pulls like a train but it's the idling that's worrying me. Is this something that sounds like a common problem? It's only done 33,250 miles.
I've been to a back street garage and went on a snap on diagnosis machine but found no faults but he said his boss has a better delco machine and he was out with it on a breakdown it's booked in for Friday with him but just wondering if anyone has any ideas

It's a 2.2. It's come up with
P0504 brake switch
U0426 electronic key
U1601 CAN Network (NCM)

Dealer has had it for seventeen days and counting he is taking the ****....

doing what exactly ("investigations..")

With a CAN bus error in any vehicle all bets are off its like finding a needle in a haystack. You could be removing, testing, replacing ecus, body computers, looms, earths, batteries and discover its the tail light cluster is corroded.

I've had nowt but trouble with the dealer I wish I had done a check on him before I bought it (he's been slated all over Google ) I've had one day use outa the van I've been to trading standards and now the finance ombudsman put my business under threat I've had to go to Arnold Clarke to hire a van and the finance company ain't much better cos I give it back to him to repair I can't return the goods as in there eyes 17 days is at the moment acceptable amount of time my argument is he told me 4 days I think it's breach of contract but the finance company think otherwise that's why trading standards and f.O. are now getting involved
