Multipla Eobd system

hi all.im new on here so bear with me if i go a bit wobbly.anyhow 3 weeks ago we bought a 2000 fiat mulitpla secondhand. fantastic car with so much room and so useful as i have 4 children 2 of whom are 6ft tall already.been going great,we know that the exhaust manifold needs to be done soon so no problem.my husband decided today to wash off the engine as he does with all his cars to keep grease build up down.after he done this and we used it the engine control light keeps coming on.it flashes on and off while beeping..a message is coming up to call garage.it is due to go in next week but am very worried about even trying to use it in the mean time.any ideas? is it water got into computer prts or exhaust decided to do one on the same day?

most likely water in electronics..,

park with bonnet-up , could dry out by tomorrow,
worth disconnecting engine earth lead over night too, as that may help clear the fault code from the system..,

Hi and Welcome to the group

As varesecrazy said, try leaving the bonnet up and let it dry. It would be helpful to know what engine is fitted to your Multi. Even if the light does not clear on it's own it might just need to be reset. Where are you located?

hi all and thank you for help.will try leaving bonnet up,have to morning as parked on main road.ill let you know how it goes.only had car a few weeks but we all love it.
