General EOBD problem fiat punto sporting

Was parked up had radio and fan on, then tried starting car nothing, battery flat, so put jump leads on all okay, half way home engine control system light came on?, went home switched off engine, then restarted light still coming on but it does not flash. I am a little low on petrol, maybe that but looked in manual and it said fixed light warning of a fuel/ignition system failure which increase emissions in exhaust. What should I do?

without a code reader theres not alot you (or we) can do but guess.

well don't really want to visit the garage, and i have read it can be numerous things so will start the car up tomorrow and see if it still comes up i am low petrol.

Buy a code reader, best thing i did for the Volvo.

I got one for £35 from japan, has worked fine for me, cant find the link i used, was off ebay.
