Technical Eobd engine control system light

Hi all have question
my partner just call me and tell me that she stop our Fiat Punto 2004 because the car start go so slow-loud and the EOBD LIGHT come trough and blink{she went work without car and park the car somewhere on the street}

what can cause the problem??? what is the solution?? and how much can cost repair??pls

not sure-but friend of mine tell me that the problem can be sparg plug?????

Right im not 100% sure what your saying
But I think your implying
Engine management light is on
No power
It sounds very loud

Is the engine shaking?

Not enough to say whats what but im suspecting a misfire
Which could be spark plugs, ht leads, coil pack

i was drive the car to the mechanics...they are not open yet but when i was drive slow {max 30mph} the car run ok

mi girlfriend tell me that the car was loud and dont want to run on higer speed
some guy tell her that the few cylinders dont work and the problem be probably sparg plug

when i was drive the car the engine light like blink every 10/20 second
hope i will find out more within 1 hour and hope thats not gonna be expensive to fix it

hello assuming it's a 1242 cc petrol engine,
the most common item causing the symptoms you list;
low power / engine shaking / MIL light on,

is that 1 of it's 2 Coil Packs has failed = the car will only be running on 2 cylinders,
coil packs are £15 / £20 on ebay = @£25 in motorist shops,

there ARE other possible issues though,

i was park my car by kwik-fit but they open 8,30
so just want to be prepared for price a little

and offer me some kind of additive which as he said solve the problem on 90%


well i gues 90% isn't good enough:bang: and other local garage don't be able to do that before tuesday

The Punto is a 4 cylinder 8valve engine
Or a 4 cylinder 16v engine

Anyway!

My advice, Spark plugs fail slowly, HT's and coils fail more suddenly

My advice, A HT lead swap is a 10min MAX task, it could save you alot of time and money if you went to a Part shop - Even halfords (but expensive) To get a set and fit them to see if it cures the issue

ziggy is correct , it's most likely only getting sparks to 2 cylinders,

so either leads or a coil pack, I personally would do ALL of the leads and BOTH coil packs, BUT that's £60 to £80,

if you can fit it all yourself it's a relatively quick and easy job @ 1 hour,

i was find garage and they do this for me
i got 16v engine{automatic speedgear}
all4 sprak plugs was change...the owner of garage show me the old one and they was bad...also ignition coil was changed
total price with 20% VAT was 186£ for 4 spark plugs{bosh} 1 ignition coil and labour

well im sad the car was work like 1 day and now the problem is back
not sure if the person was really fix the reall problem almost 200£ was spend and car still on trouble...not sure if the personmust find if put the car on test where is problem or not centarly..

and now with the new problem i have just like blink 1once for while of the EOBD LIGHT..we have to go back to the garage again but i just want to be sure that somebody dont made money on us

not sure if thats true but somebody tell me that somethime the ignition coil or spark plugs need somethime few days to work ok???
it's really problem be sure after car diagnostic what is problem???...on forum i see few guys who got same problem before and they try to fix that step by step

Does the 16v use HT leads?

or are they direct Coil packs?

The cars should of had the codes cleared, which means it assumes all is 100% and works as it should

if they didnt it should have auto-detected the problem has stopped

If the 16v is a HT user - then i suspect the HT leads were to blame, but HT and spark plugs are changed in my opionion together

not sure about HT leads{if they are cables} im not so technical type
the car was fix friday and start have problem saturday...some friend of my partner look on the car and say that 1 cable isn't fixed well he atach it and the car dont have any problem again for 24 hours..thats what my girlfriend tell me{i wasn't there}

yes those codes was celared by this people...my girl pick me up last night from work..the car sems like dont have power again ....but also have moments when i can say looks fine....when the car was on neutral the fell like gonna have cough

The 16v has got ht- leads.

Lift the bonnet up - when its dark

Start engine-Dont touch anything mind.

Just look for blue sparks on the leads.. if you see any get new ones.

price was 27£ which is not so bad...the garage owner left me his Audi A4 because they dont have the right cable last night...also say that my exhaust is bad
