1.2 16v
1.4 16v
1.8 16v

Coupe lump will fit with lots of work as will a Punto GT lump.

Why 1.6?

I wouldn't consider dropping a 15 year old engine in the car tbh.

Loom, hubs, shafts, gearbox, ECU, ABS sensors, brakes, suspension etc. etc.

Waste of time and money.

Buy a car with the engine you want in it to start with.

I've swapped like for like, but that's it.

u knw how much it would cost to put a 1.4 in it?

There's a guy from Malta that has done it over at Punto Sports Club (the 1.4 Turbo GT engine). Basically, he had to strip the car right back, should imagine many £100s, probably more having to have custom engine mounts etc... Plus, the old GT engine is getting old, and most have a fair few miles on them. You have to be prepared to maintain it well.

1.4 16v engine with other items you need probably ~£500
Plus 1/2 a days work if you do it yourself, maybe 5-6 hours labour from a garage.
Plus mapping £200.

i been in 20ltr turbo punt mk1 and it was rapid! had the coupe engine in and was about 295hp...was having bmw's and mercs off.

only 268? i seen couple's with 350+ hp...only problem is getting the power on the black stuff..so if you are going o uprate the engine better tyres alloys and suspension is a must aswell as driveshafts..a lad in my village had a 220 h GT (1.4 tubby) and it ripped driveshafts out on boost.
