engine selection in Merea weekends

I was at my friendly local fiat dealer looking for the aformentioned Weekend, inevitably he had none in but he told me that the 1.6 was the best engine choice. I found this hard to believe when there is both the 5 cylinder engine and the JTD diesel engine on offer. What do we think are the best choice is? (other than not to buy it from a fiat dealer!)

I'd say the 1.6 is not big enough for a marea, its a little underpowered in the Bravo and you do need to thrash it.

Pete - do you have a 1.9 JTD Bravo - SX or HLX? What sort of power hike do you think you got?
