Hello all, I am new to the forums, and could do with some direction please regarding my 03 Registered Fiat Multipla.

Until recently it's been an excellent car, owned since new, and just ticked over to 44000 miles.

2 weeks ago I had a new battery fitted as starting was becoming difficult. Since replacing the battery the heater doesn't appear to be working properly, although the fan is.

Yesterday having parked after a journey of approximately 40 minutes to shop restarting was slow and then the engine orange light came on.

Today again difficult to start, and occasional engine orange light then the temperature light was on complete with messages, but the car was running fine.

Just started the car again and it's smoking a lot from the exhaust and juddering, I didn't drive it.

What could be wrong please?

Thanks in anticipation for your reply. I am not a numpty, but my car knowledge is limited, I rely on our local garage to service and do any running repairs, and our Multipla is much loved :)

Hi. And welcome.

Petrol or diesel engine..?

Id be tempted to check the coolant level. As that would messup the heater and COULD explain rough running. Charlie . Oxford

Thank you so much Charlie,

It seemed that the coolant level was fine, but indeed there was next to none (the staining on the bottle gave the impression it was between min and max level) and having topped it up no warning lights no smoke, it all disappeared though so I think we still need to visit the garage.

Thank you so much for your help :)
