Is there any particular type of paint for the engine bay as it does get so hot or does any car paint do. Does anyone hav pictures of what they have painted in their engine bay so I know what to steer clear of. Any tips would be great.

this is a pic of my engine a long while back, its been re-done since, but the engine cover on my 1.8 is metal and i used temprature heat paint,(can`t remember exactly what its called, but its similar, comes as a spray tho) you can buy it from your local motor factors, i used it as a primer as i chose black anyway, and then used a normal can of spray paint over the top, when i re-sprayed my cover i just again applied more black heat paint and and used the color to match my car
if yours is a 1.2 with a plastic engine cover then you`ll get away with usin plastic primer first then what ever color you wish to use,
the reason for this is that the cover doesn`t get that hot as it sits just above the engine itself,
hope this helps :)

i've got the 1.6 which by the looks of it doesn't have an awful lot to spray! So basically if i prime it with the special spray then any paint will go on. Did you get any peeling or fading though???

Phil, i cant remember, do you have the mk 1 or mk 2 1.6? the mk2 has a plastic inlet manifold so that ca be painted easier, but either way, if you gget heat resistant primer, paint and lacquer you can go at most things :)
