Hi All.
Can any one help? my vehicle requires a V.I.C check.I desperately need to find the stamped engine number, my vehicle is an "s" reg
seicento. all I can find on the cars engine and a spare engine is a cast on number which is the same on both blocks and another number on the heads which is also the same.the block cast number is shown as the engine type on the vin plate.
I have a letter from the original registration by the reg vardy group
that give a n engine number but I cant find it.the haynes manual says it shoulkd be at the top of the block at the flywheel end.
any help would be most grafully recieved
thanks alot.:worship:

Sorry ..I have looked there and there is no stamped number.
has anyone ever seen an actual stamped number on there engine.I am going to have to scrap the car if i cant find the number..........(n)
Please has any one else got any ideas.
thanks.

Thanks guys I am Off Tommorrow, and will set to on my spare engine as it has the head removed and most of the manifold/water pump alternator removed so if i can find it on that then it will be a breeze in the car. thanks again for all the replys
sorry to be so thick.............

Found It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If any one else has trouble stand on the drivers side of the car locate the dip stick
look to the right of the dip stick on the end of the block below the head just to the left edge of the engine mounting.
My problem on both engine was that the one in the car had been painted with red engine lacquer and grey on my spare engine lacquer.as the number is shallow engraved rather than heavy stamped the lacquer had totaly covered it.hope this will help any one else looking. N.B I applied for a V5 on purchasing the car as one was not available and the request for the v.i.c check was the responce.
