General Engine management light

Hi All

I have a slight issue with my 2001 sei sporting mpi
when the speedo reaches between 70 and 80mph (not sure if its actually correct but that's what it says ) The engine management light starts to flash!
if i slow down again it goes off and doesn't come on at any other times.
haven't tried going any faster to see if it goes out as bit bothered by it and not sure it will go much faster .
Any ideas anyone? doesn't affect any performance or anything else.

The ECU will store fault codes when the EML activates, so getting these read would be step one.

Possibly the O2 sensor seeing a weak mixture that the ECU can't compensate for, but, as suggested, ask the ECU what it has seen and go from there.

Brian are you running a stock engine?

As far as i know as haven't had the car long,although it does have a K&N induction kit fitted

If you have original airbox you can give that a go. i had the same issue after i had an engine swap to a 1.2 8v punto. Only recently stopped but struggling to work out what actually stopped it. the fault code basically said generic missfire so not much help.

I had a similar problem once (only when speed over 60). A phonic relearn sorted it.
