Says it all really, just reloading multiscan to my rebuilt laptop to see what the fault codes are..... Any bets first? Multi jet 1.3 qubo..... I'll let you know....

DPF blocked..... Forced regeneration failed, in fact blocked even more.....so probably DPF replacement, oil change etc.....
Frustrating thing is that the DPF light has not illuminated once in 65k of driving, 20 miles round trip to work, mostly fastish roads, and 280 mile round trip to Kent at least monthly on motorways.... Looking for a how to if available or my local garage will sort

looking at the screen print I am ni=ow wondering if its a sensor snag as DPF temp is low? tried to upload attachment of print but not sure it worked! - it did!

it did the forced regeneration, then stopped after a minute then when I tried again later, it keeps coming up with the second screen...... I don't want to do it again as it will end up knackering the oil.

I can't see the attachment (system I'm on this morning blocks them) but it could well be a faulty sensor or sensor connection. It's not unknown for the fitting / metal pipe to come off the DPF due to rust or a flexible pipe to split.
If the downstream connection is leaking it will give the same effect as a large pressure drop across the DPF.
How was the car driving before the failure? If the DPF was blocked It would be down a least a bit, but could be gradually getting worse so not noticeable.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for your input, unfortunately like you I am at work today and the cars at home.... So can't check.
As for the relative readings on screen print they are:
Engine temp 92.5 degrees
Atmospheric pressure: 1013
Boost pressure: 742mBar
Air temp (Maf) 34.00 degrees
Particulate filter temperature 214.00 degrees
Differential pressure sensor 184mBar
Lamba oxy concentration 0.000%.....???? ( my ????)
Particulate filter clogging 79.93%
Particulate filter regeneration: ON
Particulate filter status: Normal Clogging

Fault codes
P1206 - particulate filter (1st level of clogging exceeded)
P2002 - particulate filter (2nd level of clogging exceeded

As for how the car was driving, perfectly normally, no hesitation at all, in fact it seemed livelier then normal! ...for a 75hp qubo, it did a 240 mile round trip last weekend along mainly motorways.

Any further thoughts?

Thanks again

Ken

The differential pressure is about 2.5PSI so quite high.
Can you take a reading with the engine off (ignition on) obviously at that point it should be zero pressure. If it's not you have a sensor, electrical connection or ECU issue. If it is zero you have either a blocked DPF or a leaking/blocked/broken pressure connection.

checked last night, as you suggested, Zero pressure so probably one of the above, I have put it into my local (NON fiat Garage) who has done all my work to date as I am unable to spare the time to fix it (w.o.r.k.....)

he was impressed with the screen prints so is looking at what was suggested....i'll let you know what the outcome is..

good luck,

and if nothing else..use the MES to check that the dash warning light does actually work

strange how you've supposedly exceeded 2 x levels without knowing it..

I've not had any direct DPF experience.. 2 cylinders is plenty for now.. ;)

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

yep already checked the light using MES - works

I actually originally only exceeded level 1, it was post a failed forced regeneration, I suddenly failed level 2......

as my reply to Robert its at my local garage (non fiat but been good in the past)....i'll update later.............

Got it back, garage put their diagnostic kit on, confirmed the fault, tried forced regeneration, same result as me, he however was able to adjust some settings and rerun the regeneration, filter now shows normal clogging, reset fault, he took it for a 16 mile run ( it's 8 mile rOund trip before you reach a duel carriageway herE in Norfolk, ) I then picked car up and have just drove another 22 miles home, no snag.

Total cost :£50

I am just going to change the oil in the week, as it's been degraded I suspect.
