Hey wonder if anyone could help engine warning is permantly alight on my 1.6 stilo dynamic but the car has run fine since coming want to try reseting ecu before taking to a garage [tryingto avoid the cost] been told a few ways but can anyone help with the right way? cheers

get what your saying, jst thought that maybe if i could get it to go off it would stay off as i dont thnk thereis a real problem with the car

i had same issue i disconected the battery for a hour and put it back together and bobs your uncle no light come on. until today though whem a ignition coil went :(

maybe its just wishfull thinking, maybe a trip to a garage is in order then:(

a fault code reader is well worth the money.. i paid £80 for my second one, and its paid for itself already, your talking 30 quid just for a diag test anyway.. whatever i would recommend getting one.. as i admit that stilos can kick off even if something isnt really at fault...

where would the best place be to pick one up and i it really as simple as just plugging it into the diagnostic plug read the code and finding what that code is relavant to? also does it need to be a fiat one or can a universal one be bought? cheers forthe help

im having the same problem, car is fine, engine fault wont go away, its been on 3 different diagnostics machines and no codes come up. the car runs perfect apart from the annoying beeping and the engine fault on the screen.

i spent £1061.04 trying to fix this (throttle pedal, potentiometer, throttle body, ecu) and its just not fixed or going away and the garage i went to said they could do no more even after paying them the grand!

no more fiats for me!

It needs to go on Examiner to correctly read the codes as otherwise you'll just be throwing your money away - which unfortunately appears to be what you have done :(

EDIT: Please post to one thread only please - now merged

what is an examiner? i thought thats what the diagnostics machine is? plugged in into the panel on drivers side?

its been to 3 garages and on 3 machines and i think im gonna take it to fiat for a final showdown.

dont know what else to do. thanks for the help tho

Yes; you need to take your car to a Fiat dealer or an independent Fiat/Alfa specialist who should be skilled in the use of Examiner.

Of course, not only will a specialist garage have the right equipment but they'll have a lot more experience too.

thanks guys, going to a fiat specialist tomoro and he has the official fiat computer examiner if which you speak.

will keep you posted as to how i got on.

thanks for your help everyone!

Great! What happened after you went to the FIAT specialist?
I have the same problem with vague reports from local non-fiat garage.
They say it just reports 'random misfire'
