Engine gone bang :(

well tonight quite a few of us went to a cruise/meet some 30 mile away,a quick blast on m55.But wen got there,we realised it wasnt tonight,...was next Thurs lol..So stayed and socialised (as u do ) then on way back,everyone was 'on one' so i decided to do put foot down and see what it can do Then after a while,was puzzled to find my top end speed was going down slowly,i heard a noise like a blowin exhaust sorta sound (windows closed)..Once of the mway in2 bpool,i pulled ova,car stalled..Got it started again only to hear my engine knocking its head off
Managed to get it home after some guided escort service off shaun...cheers pal we looked under the car to find oil pi**ed out everywhere
But now i am off the road till god no's wen
I got bout 4 months worth of tax left,so all in all gona claim that back and leave it in garden..It was booked in for its mot on sat aswell..

Tbh its hard to describe..theres not much of different sounds knockin,its just the 1 sound thats bangin so somthinhg has gone rather than everythin..if u will.

Dont know what to do ow tbh,its gona be few months anwyay before i can get some cash together..Ive just had the clutch replaced on the g/f's d polo and swapped insurance over onto it so thats back on the road now...Oh well,cheap motoring for a while

sorry to hear you are having some engine trouble, someone was breaking an hgt on ebay, engine, loom, box, etc for 200 quid...

Sounds like the bottom ends gone pop mate.

i had exactly the same kind of think, a funny buzzing noise, loss of power, then stalling and only running on 4
never did find the cause but he thought that perhaps it was oil starvation at some point

as the 20v donent have a oil cooler to worry about it, and if you had chucked a con rod though the bottom end, you would have known about it

i cant think of were the oil would have come from?

i payed out around 1400 for a replacement block, new clutch, aux belts, cam belt, water pump, slave cylinder, new plugs, oil, filters, coolent, and some one i trust to do the work
part way though i also has issues with the rehastat that needed to be chased and found, and a faulght reading done

so, thats the kind of lump of money your looking at mate

That is true mate,it still stands
I shifted the polo out of the garden (as thats now up+ running) and parked my brav up the drive where she'll be for some length of time

I love my car,ive liked it the minuite my sis fella bought it.I love the noise it makes and i love the look of it,and speaking of 'look' ,its the only one around here that is different from the rest and catches folk eye wherever i go

Im thinking now of leaving it be and trying to get some cash together to turbo it as planned.The engine has to come out anyway so no point in spending a fair bit of cash on the same engine...May aswell go all the way and drop a coupe 20vT in it...Ya never know,it may end up in a mag sometime lol
