What is the difference between engine : F1AE0441D and engine F1AE0441C. Can they be interchanged? Do they have the same flange on the gearbox?

I suspect the gear box flanges are same ( as the F1AG0441D 130 has the older less robust box but the 130 with comformatic has the same M40 box as the 150 ,180. )
I do not understand this well. I have a Ducáto type 250. can I use an engine with the letter C?

Error. Engine code is F1AG0481D and F1AG0481C.
F1AG0441D is bad number.

I was begining to suspect that, as I could not find any references to the previously quoted numbers. Wikipedia mentions a F1AE0481C as a 2.3jtd, and the F1AE0481D as a multijet, with higher torque, and consequently power.

This is what I have listed.

@otas432 .

If changing between these two engines, you may also need to change the ECU, but this may only be the start, as there could be problems with the later engine's ECU expecting to be a node in the canbus network.

I am wondering if it would be possible to run the later engine with the old ECU. Would the injectors and sensors etc, be compatible?

Also there is the possibility that pipework in general may have been modified, as the 2.3jtd was used in x244 models, while the 2.3 multijet was fitted to x250 models. The engine spaces are different.

F1AG0441D is the later 2016 on twin egr engine I was trying to answer the question would the gearbox flange match I obviously just created confusion.

My Autodata Manual is from 2012 so possibly some of those later engines avoided the twin egr bit, but not something I know much about.
Only guessing but if the general engine was the same I would try to use the earlier sensors etc. to keep with original ECU.:)
