Hi
Got a problem with my 3ltr 160 multijet iveco engine ducato
The throttle body is not operating as it should and I have a fault code for it using multiecuscan software . I have tried a new throttle body with the same code .
I've changed the egv solenoid valve and that is working , the new throttle valve uses the 4 pin coupling (its a quinton hazell one ) as opposed to the 3 pin on it. This has been changed from the original to a (excuse spelling ) pierburg ? And it looks in good condition,
What i would like to do is just disconnect and clean the plug going from the engine block to the ECU with contact cleaner in case its taken months a bit of corrosion.
I don't want to force it in case I break it. I think the release just slides inwards but is there a drawing or video of releasing it
Lastly anybody have any ideas of what may be causing the fault , are there anymore sensors that might cause a problem
Thanks
Keith

I note you have a X250 2007 3.0l from previous posts.
If the replacement TB was known to be good then wiring/plug corrosion will probably be the culprit.
Could you add a photo of the "plug" in question that you want to remove.

Anyone ......
Which year ducato had replacment throttle valve that requires an adapter cable between existing loom and new throttle valve to operate correctly?

P0638 is typical for short to ground which usually works out to be an issue with the throttle body due to water ingress as mentioned above.
As mentioned i have tried with a new throttle body and its still got the same fault so unless the new one is faulty its not that
Thanks

Did you use the adapter wire with the new throttle ? Did you find out if you need the adapter wire for new throttle ? I have a feeling the pierburg throttle may be the one that requires adapter wire maybe @Kahcorp knows for sure.

All the 3.0l I have seen have the 4 pin plug but only use 3 of the pins (12v, ground, & signal wire).
I have found using a Pierburg on a 3.0l built before 03/2009 will need the adaptor cable.
Many thanks for that (-:

The one that was fitted was a 3 wire pierberg with adaptor cable which to be quite honest seemed to be in good condition with no sign of any corrosion, the quinton Hazel one is a 4 pin connector so my assumption was just disconnect the adaptor and plug in the original one

Hi
I am not at the vehicle but the connection is on the ECU next to the fuse box , I believe a yellow moulding is pulled forward then this allows (for want of a better word ) the leaver to be lifted and disconnecting the plug
It's the plug that comes from the engine with wires from injectors etc
I don't hold out much hope its that but any thing tried may help
Regards
Keith

Any help is welcome 😀
As the butterfly is fully open i am a bit wary of driving to a garage incase the engine runs away.
Having seen the damage caused when the engine of a chieftain tank ran away with itself, not a pretty sight

Keith
If the engine starts to run away with itself (increase revs to the point of destroying itself) then just put it in a high gear and brake to forcibly stop it
It can only run away with itself if the driver lets it.

Never assume

Pierburg is an oem supplier to major German brands .

You would be better served by obtaining the correct pierburg part and fitting it using the correct adapter cable.
