Hi, Guys I have a problem with a Ducato 2.3 on a 07 plate the engine will just cut out at different speeds randomly. The engine light comes on but if I'm moving and dip the clutch turn off and then on the thing runs fine for a while. It's not every day though, and at 70, 30, OR JUST PULLING AWAY. I HAVE HAD 5 DIFFERENT Dienostic Boards ON different things changed witch I have changed as recommended from diagnostics
1 cam sensor so changed that
2 map sensor
3 mass flow
4 turbo boost sensor
5 fuel rail sensor
6 fuel filter complete with housing
7 THROTTLE BODY UPGRADE
8 FILTERS

IM GETTING TO THE POINT WERE IM GIVING UP any help I would very thank full
cheers
Colin

crank sensor?
Any fault codes?

On my 2.8jtd, the cam sensor is only used to detect the stroke when starting. Subsequent timing is derived from the crank sensor.

If the 2.3, as is likely works in a similar manner, then the above suggestion is a very apt one.

Something in the depths of my ancient brain suggests that I have read a previous post where this sensor was the cause of the problem. Unfortunately I cannot remember on which forum.

I had the exact same problem with a Merc Sprinter. It turned out to be a wire to the ecu that was rubbing on an exhaust bracket and shorting out. It was totally random but bumps or accelerating made the issue worse as the movement of the engine on the mountings caused the wire to touch the bracket! When a diagnostic was plugged in it would give lots of faults as yours does, try driving very gently, no hard acceleration for a while and see if that stops it, its how I found it.
Good luck
