I've had my 1.2 start stop lounge for around 18 months and have covered a little over 12k. In that time it has been sound, I've had no problems.
Last Friday morning I was driving down a narrow hill right next to my house when I slowed to let a van get past my engine just cut out. The start stop error come up and i had to pull over. It took me about three attempts to get the car started and since then it has been fine in the 300 miles I've since put on it. I hadn't stalled the car ;) and I was in 2nd gear with the clutch up so the start stop was probably not to blame.
I've also noticed an odd noise in the engine when I accelerate with my foot pressing the pedal around half way and beyond. The only sound I can relate it to would be the sound of an old air-cooled VW but not as loud.
Usually such problems wouldn't bother me but in two weeks I will be driving through Europe and putting a lot of miles on the car and I need it to be reliable.
Any thoughts as to what may have caused the problem. It is booked in for late next week to be checked over.
