Hey all

My bottom engine cover (the one that sits at bottom of the car) has become loose and I think its rattling ,catching on the floor..

Anyone know if it will cause any harm just to remove it?

been running without mine for years and even the 2 lower side covers that go into arch for over a year.
no issues cooling wise, more noise from engine bay, carefull when driving through standing water as it will splash up into engine bay worse than normal.

A couple of scrap screws would put it back in place easily.

I'm debating removing mine from my Multijet but I'm scared water will get into the electrics.
My retaining screws have rusted and sheared off. It hangs down visibly to one side at the front.
Also, going over speed bumps it catches but sometimes it clangs.

Thanks for your help ill try to cable tie itif that faols its coming off :)

Ouch one day you know your gonna see a sump in your rear view mirror!

Exactly! Sometimes it's just the cover scraping or the lip spoiler, other times it clangs and crunches. Dread to think what's taking the damage! If I could raise the ride height easily I would do it in an instant!

a cheapish option to raise temporary is spring aid, I fitted some due to some nastily shaped speed humps I have to pass daily and fact id not thought job through when I added my 200cell cat, welded it easiest position but hangs lower by diameter of cat body.
so basically I threw some spring aid in there and clear ok now.
hopefully one day ill get the cat moved higher up and they can come back out.

I fitted a pair of 26-38mm and a pair of 39-51mm but advise you measure your own spring gaps to be sure.

cheapest easiest way I can think to try a lift then remove again.
