General Engine Cover paints

had a search, also searched on other forums aswell and cant get a definate answer,

heat resistant paint and heat resistant laquer needed for the plastic engine cover?

or can i use the same spray paint, primer and laquer i used for the front upper grill?

Hi mate, look at my pics you'll see my engine cover, done with normal bodyshop paint and laquer, in ford frozen White, and multijet in red, been on a year and no problems so far

It's all in the preperation mate, sand down so it's all completel smooth, prime, couple coats of colour, couple coats of laquer! Or do what I did and pay a bodyshop to do it. £40

a couple of places near me wanted around 60 so i thought if i could use the plastic primer and laquer then itd cost nout

You'll need various grades of alu oxide paper as well to get the best finish (from 400 to 1500 should do), and a lot of patience. Which reminds me, I should really finish painting my alloys

thanks for the advice guys,

i just didnt wanna use the same stuff i used on the grill and it burnt or worse under the heat!
