Hello good people

My 1.4 8v is seemingly having a fuel related problem (I assume). At cold start a strong smoke smelling like fuel is coming from the exhaust. Strong fuel fumes in the cabin as well (which I believe is made worse by the cracked bleeder hose)

At first, the engine has a hard time reaching 3k rpm, but once you get it warm and forces the rpm up, it can accelerate with no problems. The jittering reoccurs if I drop to a high gear (5th or 4th) at lower speeds (5-60 km/h)

I bought some injector cleaner and drove at 4.5k rpm for about 3-40 minutes which helped so much that I actually thought the problem was gone. Car driving perfect, quick acceleration and no fuel smell in the canine. But morning after it got worse again (not as bad as first), and I have to force it like I mentioned earlier.

I’m suspecting maybe a clogged injector? Clogged fuel line, clogged mesh in fuel pump. Is it worth changing the spark plugs?
Anyone with a similar experience that maybe can pin point me?

I have access to MES if that could help me

I would be tempted to check for an ignition problem first, either HT leads/coils shorting or maybe the spark plugs.
I can't remember on your model, but if it has HT leads, I would loosen then from the plugs , but still in contact, then start engine and see if easing one plug lead away at a time can help diagnose which cylinder is weakest possibly.
Try not to give yourself an electric shock.;)

If you checking leads don't remove them without proper safety equipment as a bolt from high circuit CAN KILL! use the safe method take one lead at time off either get someone to turn over car or watch for sparks use plug made for your engine will show spark or just rest the cap on top of plug you should here a strong popping sound
Also you can remove plugs and check for faulty ones also check for codes to eliminate faulty crankshaft sensor or cam sensor all would cause poor running and acceleration problems
Hope that helps

I can't say it would not kill someone with a weak heart, but in over 55 years in trade I have had many HT shocks and the most painful was when your arm jumps back and bangs into something hard.
As an apprentice we had a 80 year old who could stop an engine by putting his hands across all four plug terminals.
I know it is true voltages are higher now so it makes sense to apply caution.:)

At the least you would not know if it was fatal till you've touched it! I've had a few mains shocks and one off a cars lead I wasn't doing plugs but inadvertently lent on a ht lead that was split! Assumption that it won't is proberbly dangerous mindset.

I have had mains shocks in the past, usually through old style metal drills etc. in damp workshops, much less common with double insulated products these days.
Also I understand with mains AC voltage it is harder to let go as your hand clenches. Found this.;)

"If you compare AC to DC, then studies indicate that AC is around five times more dangerous. The human body is naturally more resistant to DC than AC and it has been proven that letting go – therefore escaping the impact of electrical shock – of live parts in a DC circuit is easier."

The power in a HT lead is the multiple of the voltage and the current. The voltage may be 100,000V, but then the current is 0.000005 A. So 5 Watts, and not very dangerous, although you'll not want to do this deliberately.
