Hi,

My 2007 fiat ducato 160 multijet( new shape) went into fiat preston for some warranty work, to be completed whilst i was waiting. 4 1/2 hours later, i had to instruct them to re-assemble the van and book in to complete work. After 20mins they said the work was completed, and van was ready to take. On inspection, i noticed no engine cover, took this up with fiat, who said it doesnt have one. Went through the fiat carpark, looking at all other fiat ducato's and they all had one, but they were all 2.3's. Fiat have informed me the 3.0 never had one fitted at all, which i find strange, as its the top of the range.

Is there any 3.0 owners out there who could open their bonnet and confirm whether a cover is fitted or not( the cover goes over the injectors and is generally black plastic)

Any photos of said cover would be a great help.

Thanks john.

The early X250s did not come with the plastic cover & were fitted to the X250 models in response to customer complains about water pouring onto the engine from the faulty scuttle design (watergate). But apparently they were only fitted to customer vehicles if they complained about the water pouring from the scuttle into the valley between the two camshafts & collecting there, (& elsewhere) not as a general recall! There was also a recall for "waxing" of the affected engine parts in response to this problem as well, I am not sure if this also applied to the 2.3 as well - probably as it is also a DOHC engine, unless it already had a cover fitted from new ?
At some stage the covers were then fitted to production 3.0 lt models as well.
See previous post about what the end result is of water entering the engine bay - https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/215372-2007-ducato-3-0-160bhp-injectors.html

The new 3 litre does have an engine cover if the model I saw recently at the NEC is anything to go by. I would complain like mad as Fiat do not fit them as a matter of course which is consistent with their Customer Services strategy.
