Hi all I was thinking of building a 1108 motor with gucci bits in it is there a place where I can buy pistons, rods, and other nice bits, I've not built a full engine since 99 and that was on my imrscher Nova I got 118bhp out of the standard 1.3 lump it was a great car, I know gsr do heads so I might get one from them and do the block crank fly wheel rods pistons myself, I'm sure someone has done it before what bhp did they get and could it be driven ok

now a lot of people use parts from other models on the fiat range to improve this engine. for example a P75 cam and other bits. as a thought to you a 1242 engine is a way better canvas to work on. wish you all the luck in building a mad machine though

You have to decide how much power you would like from an engine? What would the car be used for? Is it is worth the effort/cost. A 1.4 16v engine is the best N/A option or you could go for a turbo 1.4 8v/16v if you want to splash the cash. To get 100+ HP out of an 1100 engine wil cost anywhere up to £5000.

1.4 16v would be best for a engine swap search the FAQ's and guides

getting 100hp+ from a 1108 is doable for less then £1000 easily if you can do it yourself and get the parts second hand, most people throw them together and expect it to get good power but im sure OP knows you have to do everything right and get it working well with each other

also where that hp is. 100bhp on the 1108 is more than likely going to be 6-7k atleast on the rev range. down at the usuable 2-3k of every day life its going to be no different or even worse than before....

Well im hoping to make a useable motor that is smooth almost like just doing a blue print of the engine, im hoping to just get a good 80bhp from it with good power curves, im not looking for monster power if I was I would drop in a bigger motor, also going to pop it on a dyno and get the fuelling perfect, so a few lighter components with better quality a flowed head and a cam at the same time im going to pop a pipe and filter on it, im just after a place to get the pistons and rods from
