There's no such animal as an N reg multijet 1.2.

The multijet is a deisel engine and is 1.3.

Either someone is pulling your plonker, or their head is in a twist.

Some people refer to FIAT Fire engines as SPI (Single Point Injection) or MPI (Multi Point Injection). SPI for SPI, they're a straight swap, 1.2 for 1.1. But you need the 1.2 manifold or the exhaust will not clear the sump.

The only Mk 1 MPI engine is the Punto 75. You really need the complete inlet tract (manifold and TB), ECU and code box and ignition key and complete exhaust manifold. The exhaust itself is a slightly bigger diameter.

Hi
Thank you for the information sorry the replacement engine is a 1.2 multi point injection 75sx,

Do-able, but difficult, as described.

If you use your old head, and put the cam out of the P75 in it, essentially you have a P60 engine which will run off your existing ECU with no re-wiring required (but a chip is a good idea). You can use your old inlet mani, but should either extend the manifold by making up a 10mm spacer (pattern it on the exhaust to manifold flange) or a simple cut, extend and weld job on the exhaust pipe, or a P60 exhaust mani.

This is a very common (and cheap) way of boosting the power in Cinqs and early Seis, so there's a lot of stuff on this in the Cinq/Sei section, probably something in the guides/FAQs, too.

Although 60bhp isn't a lot more than 55 or so, the extra torque makes the car far easier to drive and with a bit of extra work (bigger throttle body, Punto 45 inlet manifold, chip and second hand supersprint exhaust manifold) you can make it produce a lot more.

Of course, look at uprated brakes, tyres, suspension, too.

On reflection, I may be wrong about the manifold (maybe the P55 and P60 are the same length?) so check!
