Technical Engine & Brake Upgrade

FUN! :p

It may well be a bit of a sleeper, tho the cage is probably going to be painted yellow, not very discrete.

It may serve as a bit of an ad for my mate's autosport workshop too as I hope to be taking it to a few grasstrack meets, etc throughout the year.

But mainly, it's just a bit of a laugh :D

I delivered the engine to the workshops on Saturday so that the installation could be sized up. There are a few options, one of which involves taking out the heater matrix ;)

The rollcage has been primed, tho I haven't made a definite decision on the final colour.

Yes, it's a 16v :D Removing the heater isn't strictly necessary to fit the engine, but it will make things a little easier later. Will need to fit a screen heater for the MOT tho. I have an idea for the colour of bars and the guys at the workshop are keen on it too, so that helps. The car (he's called Bobby, btw) will stay the same colour for now. If he survives the year then he may be a bit tidier next :) He's very scruffy on the outside!

The engine will have a "slightly" different set up when it eventually goes in ;) I've spent today collecting various parts from both vehicle dismantlers and the local Fiat dealer. Some of the bits tho just happen to be lying around my friend's workshop:

This exhaust will fit nicely...

The cage has had a second coat of primer, ready for the yellow top coat. The doors and windows will be refitted over the next few days so that Bobby can be moved around the yard.

The exhaust is a Vauxhall part, suitable for a 2litre "Red Top". We'll be making up an inlet manifold to suit the parts that we're fitting later. Today I have bought a 1988 Nova, just to get the distributor &coil  That will help run the beast! It'll be a bit of a GM / Fiat mixture, which, if reports are to believed, will be happening in the real world too. (source: Auto Italia magazine)

Oops! It was actually a link up with Chrysler that's on the cards

The roll cage is to be painted Sporting Yellow (or as close as Wilco gets to it!:p) I may fit the Nova seats for now, as they have headrests ;)
