Hi All,

I have recently bought a 54 reg diesel Multipla, new shape. Not my first though! Had a beige (it looked good, really!) 2000 LHD model when I lived in Spain! You may still see it around the roads of La Manga! Anyway..

I assume I am right in thinking I have the 115 bhp JTD? Is there anyway you can find out the engines bhp from its engine number?

I am getting it remapped to 155 bhp next Tuesday by Angel Tuning, and I informed them I have the 115 model, but I thought I would make sure, before they get here!

Best regards,
Phil:confused:

It will be a 115bhp version as the newer 120bhp version didn't come out until over a year later.

The newer one will be described as Multijet too.

You can check the Owners manual as it will state your power output within its pages.

It won't be hard as you'll only find references for the 1.6 petrol and the 1.9 diesel - in which case you'll probably find the figure of 115bhp documented.

Hi Emm, The cost will be £300.00. Did um and ah about it, but what the hell!

Once I have been running with the remap for a while I'll post my thoughts on it all.

I do expect to be replacing the clutch soon afterward though:D

Phil

WOW! Just taken my chipped (155bhp) multi out for a spin after having it remapped.

Fantastic power & torque, really, really pleased with the results. I can see there will be a few surprised car drivers out there in the near future! There seems to be masses of potential of power in all gears, with third being particularly brutal!

Roll on 5:00 pm and home time....

Yey! how exciting!! ive got goose bumps thinking about it:D
Be a while saving the extra £300 but it appears it may be worth it:cool:
Thanks for replying(y)

Do you keep a detailed record of fuel consumption ?

If so, please post the new consumption (up, down, unchanged) after a month or two.

(And maybe again a few months later when the novelty's worn off, and the new clutch is fitted ;))

This mapping provides most gains for diesels are many are "dumbed down" at the factory gatee to come well down in terms of emissions and insurance etc.

The beauty about having a diesel is that it's so easy to get back that lost impotus and as any 1.9 Multipla owner will know, they already have great low down pull and can pull fron 35mph in 5th with easy.

Adding the Angel tuning mod will further enhance what you already have without straining the engine and it's components too much.

Upon special request, Angel could push the tune further to develop more power/torque lower down, but this will be to the detriment of the clutch.

The standard clutch should be ok for a standard Angel tune as there are other higher performing fiat models using the same engine and clutch.

Check out Angel Tuning's website to see if they do anything for the 1.6 petrol version

Thanks for the info i will check out the angel web site
As for insurance even telling my insurance co that mine had optional extra 17inch aloys and a body kit increaced my insurance

Will keep you updated on the mpg gained/lost. Not this month though, too busy exploring the extra power so it will be pointless anyway!

Must say though, no problems to date, and it's really nice to have the extra power, IMO, it just makes the drive more fun and it is nice to know that I have the pace - if required!

As for the clutch, yep, won't be long before it needs replacing, oh well!

A quick note about insurance.

I've suped up a few cars (in my youth) and currently run a Saab 9000 that's pushing out about 290bhp and 330nm torque.

In short it's heavily modded and I use Chris Knott insurance. My 9000 costs me £355 (ish) and it has the following:
- 3" full stainless exhaust
- Abbott Racing uprated IC
- Koni & H&R lowered ride
- Abbott Racing strutbrace
- ECU remapped taking it way further than the original 225bhp and 280nm (ish)

They have beaten everyone else by far and they now insure the Multipla for around £260 p.a.

Going by other cars I've had modded over the year

I got the extra 10% discount for being a member on this forum too.
