Good afternoon all.

Hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I bought a Fiorino 2018 1248cc 16V multijet a couple of months ago online. Im located in the far north of Scotland so was not spoilt on choice locally.

Anyway, the van was delivered, happy at first but has developed an issue. I cannot return it to the seller due to his distance from me and Ive had a local mechanic look at it but he has struggled to find the problem. It will sometimes develop smoke from under the bonnet. It does not do this every time its driven. It seems to make no difference what distance I drive, it randomly starts smoking. It seem to be coming from somewhere to the right hand side of the DPF. First thought was an oil leak somewhere, but cannot find any evidence of oil leaking. Everything seems dry around the turbo, DPF, manifold etc. no loss of oil. It has stumped my mechanic. He seems to be focused on the DPF regen'ing itself but Im not convinced. I tried to force a regen today by driving 20mns in 3rd gear at 60mph but I dont know if its done anything. He thinks that mapping the DPF out would fix it, but then Im concerned about future MOT checks or having the engine management light on all the time. I will end up going to another mechanic to check, but wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or suggestions as to what it could be? In every other way the van is very good.

Thanks in advance.
