i know but ive already had some employers read my cv and as you could see them thinking this looks good then they see dyspraxic and tell you sorry your not what were looking for or sorry we dont have any vaccansies usual bull **** you get when someone doesnt know what something is and cant be bothered to find out.

Why do you have it on your CV?

All you need is.

Full Name
Address
Telephone/Mobile
Email

Personal Profile: What do you have experince in?

Work Experince: Most Recent first! Bullet Points for job duties.

Further Education.

High School - Subjects, no Grades!

and

Refrences availible on request.

(y)

Never EVER put.

Health Problems - Such as mental health, disabilities, etc.
Driving Licence.
Age
Sex
NINO - Unless on a application form.

I wasnt having a dig at the guy lee, was just saying..... Being dyspraxic shouldnt stop a 17 year old getting a job anywhere, hell it didnt even stop me joining the air force.

Its simple really, if you feel they will not employ you because of dyspraxia, dont tell them.

Although i told all my employers and never had aproblem. If you pin it on your learning difficulties you may not realise that there are actually very different reasons they wont employ you...

the problem is my ma does recruitment for BT so helps me with my CV etc.

and not declaring conditions especially mental conditions of any sought including the likes of dyspraxia (unless they are pathetic things eg eczema) is actually illegal. and the other problem is, is that with the governments new policy on age discrimination its illegal to discriminate against older people (over 60) but it isnt illegal to discriminate against those under 18 (obviously it is if racial discrimination etc).

There is a CV bible right there :slayer:

No offence mate but ive seen some of the poor buggers that work in supermarkets nowadays, and trust me dyspraxia is nothing compared to them guys. And they WILL know what it is. If you are going to tell them you are dyspraxic, and you look like a bag of ****, bob marley morning hair, then they will tell you where to go.

But you could try telling them the positive side of dyspraxia if you dont feel they know what it is.

i understand what you are saying perfectly and the other problem is round here at the moment everyone and i mean everyone is looking for a job.

I disagree on only one point Soapy, ALWAYS put driving license details if you hold a full license it is related to the job; but as part of qualifications!

its always good to put you hold a full licence with no convictions or points as it means you can be flexible which employers like.

The reason it isn't illegal to discriminate to under 18's is mostly down to insurance and work related laws concerning minor's

problem is employers use it as an excuse. eg i applied for a job at pc world in january and they said they couldnt accept applicants under the age of 18 due to legal reasons. but i applied anyway and they said i was the sought of person tey were looking for but came back with the under 18 crap and when my ma enquired as to what this law against under 18s was they couldnt and wouldnt tell her.

Also, if you are putting an Email Address on a CV, don't put one like this;

This is a true example; but not the real email;

sexy_cam_babe81 @ hotmail.com

Sign up for a new one with you real name, preferably without numbers. Use a full stop or underscores if you have a common name.

If you put intrests (Which most employers don't care about) don't put watching TV, or wathing movies. Put what kind of TV, say Sci-Fi for example. I enjoy watching Sci-Fi movies etc.

Yeah, if you are going for a job that requires a DL, put it, otherwise leave it out. Have 2 different CV's, a general one and a specific one. (y)

luckily my name aint to common and i learnt about the hobbies bit the hard way best is to put hobbies that relate to skills needed for the job you are applying for.

Also worth customising the CV's slightly if you can to each application, if your part of an institution or such as the IET, I Mech E, a University, it's better looked upon to have such a 'professional' email address.

aye i know exactly what you mean my mate had his email as phuck-forever@blahblah (first bit real seconde not) a pete doherty song for those who dont know and had some very interesting responses a long the lines of **** off purely as a result of that email address.

thats why i have my full name, including middles names, (seperated by underscores) for my cv email address.

the other addresses are jsut for mates

I wouldn't employ them with that either tbh, the WHOLE CV is about selling yourself, if you put on anything that might not be what the company want, they'l move on.

They have alot of applications and have to whittle them down somehow (or just bin the lot)

in the past when applying for jobs i went for a drive round the business parks looking for all the big names, (banking, electronic, phone operators, head offices of retailers etc) wrote them as a list, checked their websites and searched and applied for jobs. found a lot more that way than looking in the local rag and job centre

I was working at PC World when I was 16, although I wouldn't recomend working there ever.

Few weeks ago I was chatting to my manager, and he was saying that because of the credit crunch at the moment, lots of companies are cutting back, on my department we've taken out 2 sunday shifts and 5 day shifts. And thats just on one department (This is at Tescos).

When I was looking for a job last year, I went from March to September without a job, that was applying for everywhere, but because it was around school holidays/end of year, loads of people where applying for the same job (Admitally, I really couldn't be arsed with getting a job either).

It might be worth applying more than once to places, I got an interview at Tescos and didn't get the job, applied a few weeks later, and got the job. Same Tescos btw.

Only 13% of the population actually get a job through the job centre!!!

Shocking eh.

Can't wait till all them smug bast**** that work for DWP get made redundant next year. Can't wait to call them dole scum. :D

Through mates and Spec letters is the best way. :)
