Technical ELX Auto - Gear Selector Lamp?

Hi all,

I've recently aquired a Weekend ELX Auto, does anyone know if the gear selector indicator next the the selector lever should be illuminated when the lights are on?

If so I guess the lamp has expired on mine, have you any idea how to change the lamp?

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum.

I can check if the indicator is illuminated next week, my mate at work has one.

Nothing in the manual about it, but it looks like you can take the knob off by removing a screw under the shift button. The trim will likely just be clipped onto the central console.

No, its not illuminated ( on mine from new at least ), instead you are supposed to look at the gear selector readout on the dashboard which IS illuminated ;-) Better to look forward than down right?

OK Thanks for the reply and clarification, pleased it's not supposed to be as I didn't fancy the job of changing it!

Yea keepin yer head up and looking forward usually reduces the risk of accidents!
