At night in the 100hp, the glare from the side mirrors is bad enough to really get to me.

Now obviously the 100hp doesn't have an ambient light sensor, but not all dimming mirrors work that way, some are Electrochromatic themselves.

I haven't found anywhere that makes panda sized glass that is Electrochromatic, nevermind heated glass suitable for 100hp.

Anyone have any ideas for suppliers?

Otherwise I'll have to try finding another vehicle with a larger mirror, cutting down to size and fitting the Panda mirror mounts with some epoxy.

I am working on using the 500 door wiring and 100HP mirror control switch. It means cutting into the door card at the top of the inside pull handle. I got the switch fitted (very squeaky bottom time) but had it all gone pear-shaped, the door cards are easy enough to replace. Ive got the switch fitted but still not got around to doing the wiring.

The 500 door wiring loom sets up everything for the driver's door. The passenger door will need new wires running under the carpet to the mirror. 100HP mirror wiring stays as-is but won't be used.

Interesting.

So the 500 wing mirrors are dimming?

No they’re not. Even a lot of luxury cars don’t have electrochromatic wing mirrors.

They are incredibly expensive to make because of the nature of layering the liquid crystal level evenly between the glass layers.

If you managed to get the wing mirror glass from another car then tried to cut it to the right shape it would more than likely cause the liquid Crystal to “bleed” ruining the mirror.

Really the only way to do what you want is to commission a specialist company to make some glass mirrors, then you’d need to organise the connections to the wing mirrors and probably tap those into an internal mirror that would control the dimming effect.

There is no auto dimming feature. My suggestion allows you to fit the 500 wiring and switch with Panda electric mirrors so you can manually adjust the driver's (electric) door mirror. It's also easier to wire and easier to use than the 100HP/Eleganza switch position which is down with the cigarette lighter.

I do a lot of motorways and dual carriageway driving. Driver's that sit on your rear 3/4 are a nightmare at night as the dipped beam up-flick is a perfect hit on the driver's door mirror. I can live without electric mirrors but glad to have them.

over 1/2 million miles in dozens of different vehicles is only been a minor inconvenience

you should only get a brief problem as you get passed

the rear view point to rear and has a manual dip

door/wing mirrors are 95% in your own shadow

far more annoying are care with LEDs coming the other other way especially if they weren't originally designed for them. Or a boy racer with overbright illegal headlights behind you. But even the the problem is the rear View even though its dipped and the fact you can't see the road as you are in your own shadow

Every week I get at least one on the A3 or M3 sitting in my rear 3/4. They have no idea the glare they cause. A dab of the bakes brings them past but its really annoying. I usually adjust the drivers door mirror so I have to stoop to use it - puts the dazzle below my eye line. Later I put it back to normal.
Agreed about over-bright LEDs. 1/2 the time you can't see much difference between main and dipped beams.
My other hate is inappropriate use of rear fogs. There is no defence against them. If they don't directly drown out the brake lights, they have you looking aside so you don't immediately see the brakes come on. The damn things should auto off at 30mph because if you can drive that fast they are not needed.
