Hi all, i recently bought a 1992 Fiat Uno fire. All was well and good up until a couple of weeks ago.

Firstly my headlights have given up the ghost. When switched on, the dims come on, the main beams do not work and often after a period of time the high beams come on (the high beam indicator below the speedo only comes on when the lights decide to- which is long while after they've been turned on)

Secondly my hooter has stopped working. There is a clicking sound in the relay when i push as well as when i release the hooter.

All the fuses have been checked and are in tact. My main concern at the moment is my lights.

Can anyone help me out?

Much appreciated!!!!!!:)

unbolt + clean-up the earth / ground points,
start with where the black earth lead goes from the cars battery to the chassis ; - )

As Charlie says, you should also find some multi connectors bolted or welded to the body, where all the earths connect. I think there is one on an inner wing behind a headlamp, but cannot remember which side, or could be one each side. Each connector needs to be cleaned, and the connection between multi-block and car body needs to be clean.

A friend had a similar problem some years ago with his Uno, cleaning all these connections fixed everything.
