Technical electrical problem

just taken delivery of a 75sx for cheaps the only snag with it is that the battery drains very quickly its got an aftermarket stereo and a cobra alarm and imobiliser the stereo has been disconnected but the alarm remains so we believe that this is causing it but how do i go about removing it in regards to the imobiliser any help greatly appreciated

Hi: Have you tried anything else before diving in & removing stuff ? The quickest way to find what circuit a heavy drain is on is to put an Ammeter in series with the Battery +ve lead & then remove the fuses 1 at a time until the drain stops.
Have you tried disconnecting the Alternator to see if that's causing the problem ? have had that with different vehicles on many occasions.

I would imagine its the alarm thats draining it but the above suggestion is your best way of solving it.
If there is no current being drawn when you stick the ammeter on then its likely it just has a fubar'd battery

thanks for the pointers unfortunately the car is now being broken for spare just poked a screwdriver through the floor about a foot has to be replaced which isnt worth it as cars on 113k and needs other attention

o dear Mine is on 85k and p reg and has had 4 repair patches in the rear
