Electrical Problem...Help!

Hello all,

My Bravo (1998 SX) has been off the road for a few months now as I have been driving a company car. Anyway, went to get her going again and battery was flat unsurprisingly. Turned out to be dead so replaced the battery. When I hooked it back up, the right hand indicator bulbs (front, side and back) are stuck on. Not flashing, but steady. I can indicate left but when I go to indicate right, obviously it doesnt work. Ive been checking fuses and relays and they seem fine. Im guessing it might be something related to the central locking/alarm/immobiliser. Is there an electronics reset somewhere or a way of deactivating the fob control so I can at least start again! Disconnecting the battery doesnt help me. All advice much appreciated, Im on a too-rare day off!

Thanks in advance,
Pete

Sometimes when indicator light stays on could be down to earthing. caused by damp, corrosion etc

Thanks for the responses. I have bits of the car ripped apart to check electrical connections all over the place. Then it got dark! Will work on the earth stuff tomorrow. Likely to be an earth under the bonnet or the ones around the boot? Or failing that, somewhere else?

Help much appreciated thanks again.

Apologies for second posting in 20 mins! I have my Haynes guide out and going through indicator bits. I have two quick questions that I couldnt figure from the diagrams!

1. Where does the Indicator relay live? Only actual relays I can find are the two in the glovebox (which look after central locking and sunroof). Have gone through all the fuses and all seems normal.

2. Where are the earth points for the drivers side indicators? Book just has them listed as existing, but doesnt give a clue as to where they are.

Cheers,
Pete

there are some relaysat the frontin engine bay. passenger side.low down under a cover

Hi Gillan, tried that but sadly no joy. Car has been sat for quite a while so I suspect damp might well be a problem. Brought some meters home so will start testing connections and earths shortly. Still trying to track down the indicator relay though, have been following cables but no joy so far!

Thanks for the help and advice, much appreciated.

Pete
