My 01 1.9jtd multipla has been stood for a couple of months while i was working overseas . The problem im having is that when i go to overtake something and give the engine a good reving i get the engine managment warning light coming on and the contact garage message and it wont rev past 3500. Luckily i bought an ecu fault resetter / reader from ebay and i just reset it and all is good again for about a couple of days.It ran perfectly before being stood and the problem started as soon as i drove it after the layup. Is there any body can give me an idea which one of many sensors on the car might be the culprit or where to look first.

I am not a specialist but I reckon it lies in the crank/rpm or EGR sensors. The crank being the most likely suspect of the 2.

Could be old diesel fuel, with the modern Bio additive that can gel in the tank and fuel lines when a car has been standing idle causing mayhem to fuel supply to pumps and injectors?

Just an out-of-the-box thought..

I think the problem might lie with the fuel system. Can anybody tell me what the module is screwed into the bottom of the fuel / h20 evap filter, im guessing its either a heating element or moisture/flow sensor. It has 3 terminals on its connector but i cant get an ohms reading accross any of its connections. in my way of thinking whether its a heater or sensor i should get some kind of reading.
Any info would be very much appreciated.
