Ok, I started doing my leccy window switch mod today. Instead of soldering every individual wire on I going to go down the the scrap yard and get hold of two wire looms and just clip the wires in. Ill get some pics when its finally done...

You just have to remember that if you want to retain (I didn't as I'm using the rather convenient sized space for fitting a volt meter) the original switches you can't wire them in series you need to do them parallel or is it other way about, anyway both switches will not work if you just join them in I’m sure.

To be honest even if you get the connectors from the scrappy the loom will be no where near long enough to reach from the doors to the original position so you will need to lengthen the wires and remember to insulate them from water as the door is a wet place.

The one good thing to get is the light holder so that the switches light up which looks cool at night especially mine as I have blue leds in mine :)

TH sei stalks are very easy to remove, there is an allen bolt that opperates a clamp thats hold them in place around teh steering column, lossen & they just slide off once you have unplugged the 3 multi plugs.
excellent, I'll have a look when I get home. How did you go about removing the ignition barrel on the Sei style column? I was trying for ages but the Haynes only illustrates the Cinq style column.

Cheers

i didn't, I just got a rubber grommit and glued it in the ignition barrel hole then cut a new hole to match up to where the Cinq barrel sits as to remove the ignition barrel you need to cut the bolts as they have a rounded head to stop car theifs just removing them.

ah, now I did see those bolts. I'll give it a go at some point. Cheers (y)

The person who nicked my car managed to unscrew those shear bolts... not sure how. I managed to re-use them temporarily but FIAT are sending me new ones anyway.

they probably hammered a tap on the end and then unscrewed them as there has to be a way to remove them cos how does any garage remove them if teh barrell fooks up! Its the same with locking wheels bolts, they can be removed easily if you know what to do, i had to remove a se tonce and it took very little time to remove them!

You're probably right there, I just hope the postman brings my new bolts tomorrow because I want to get those plastic covers put back on asap... thats the problem with living at a busy pub - a bit of Dutch courage and they'll try anything.

I'm liking that electric window mod, I keep looking for the switch there :)

Hi..

I've seen your work, and wanted to try it myself(with my girlfriends father help:))I got the parts required (2Xswitches,2xconectors,front bumper went(i have 2now!!!!!!;)),oil filler cap thingy and round FIAT logo for 10EURO in Italy-yeah:)) and woould now nead a litle bit of help from the autor. Could you make a picture from the side- it seams thet the switches would hang preaty low under the handle+conectors-wery low...
Now, any help would be apresiated...
Thanx for any adwice...

Only just read this about a pic from the side I will try and remember tomorrow, but in the mean time here is a pic of the switch lit up blue.

I would like to do the same on my Sei, but I cannot use the genuine switches. Any suggestions of the type of switches I should look for? I need the wiring info, so after I would look for size and type, as the door handles are very curvy on the Sei.
