Hello,

The front left electric window on my wife's car (2001 JTD 110 ELX) has stopped working. Unfortunately, it has done this in the fully open position. It does not respond to either switch (nothing at all happens when they are pressed) and there does not appear to be a blown fuse anywhere. I am also fairly certain that it is still on its runner.

I would have said that this was a blown fuse and looked this up in the handbook. There are 3 fuses that deal with front window risers (27 and 28 which I think are LHD only and 26) which are shown as a seperate block of three to the left of the rest in the diagram on page 151. However, on looking in the fusebox, none of these fuses appear to exist in there.

My only other thought is the possibility of corroded contacts on the motor inside the doorskin (or a broken motor)

Does anybody have any ideas?

Ian

Worry no more folks, I have found the answer.

The switch is broken on the drivers door panel. Oddly, this stops the window from working completely, even if the broken switch is disconnected. I found this fault by borrowing the drivers door switch panel from my Marea and, once that was plugged in, the window worked fine. I have ordered a new switch panel (£30.00).

The funny thing is that the front passenger window in my Marea still worked from the switch on the same door with the drivers door switch disconnected. Typically inconsistent Fiat nonsense.

Hello Booklady,

You make a good point there. I did look on Ebay but there were none being offered at the time. I also thought about visiting my excellent local scrappie but scrap Multiplas are few and far between.

I don't usually make a habit of buying parts directly from Fiat, but on this occasion, after due consideration, I decided that the price was reasonable enough and that it was my best course of action.

Regards

Ian
