Technical eibach pro springs fitted

many thanks to howard at allitalia in wrexham very nice man, very nice job,hadnt realized at the time but hes also cleaned my alloys!will be visiting him again at new clutch time.
anyway car now looks and feels like it should have from start, almost used to look like it was jacked up on lifters.road noise seems quieter if anything and isnt clanging and crashing over pot holes like i was expecting.plus wont be worring bout front springs snapping.

They make an appreciable difference, did you fit the springs only?

yes springs only on original dampers,cars only on 15,000 miles so may do dampers in a couple of years if any go, but for now combination of springs and oe dampers is fine for me.

i put eibach sportlines which are 50mm drop on original dampers, which had covered 15,000 aswell. they are now on 22,000 and 100% fine. you will be ok with them mate.
got any pics so i can compare with mine?

I really can't see how you can make such a comment unless you only drive on the most perfect surfaces. Eibach Pro 30mm with original dampers then fair enough but for 50mm then just about every poster reports big issues unless you also upgrade the dampers.

I'm starting to wonder if you're down anything close to 50mm as isn't your motor a 1.2/1.4 i.e not very heavy.

Colye have you actually measured under jacking points for clearance. Park on a good surface and then measure under 4 jacking points down to tarmac. You may not be as low as you think :chin:

just getting ready to go to work but will take a picture at work and measure from floor to jacking points,wouldnt like to go any lower than is now front spoiler looks like its at speed bump height with a bit of clearance(i'll measure that as well).

Have to agree with Argo, often suggested with the smaller lump (1.2/1.4) makes sense to put the -50mm on to get around a 35mm drop in reality - on the front only that is, would have thought it'd be a bit imbalanced with -50mm all round on a 1.2/1.4 if the front doesn't drop as much at is should because of the lighter engine?

Proof is in the tasting - actual ride height figures would be good Coyle can find out once and for all what the actual figures are

just measured mine(1.9 16v ) as is with eibach -30 and to the jacking points in the sills its front 170mm and rear its 200mm.thats the small cut out in sill,if to sill its probably 165mm and 195mm.sorry but never measured before fitting so no reference to original.

ok, where do you want me to measure? and i'll do it this weekend.
im prob not as low as 50mm coz its 1.4.so not as much weight.
hence why i want 100mm coilovers

my mates got an abarth. on 35mm drop.
mines lower at the front slightly, and quite alot lower at the back

Looking at Coyle's motor I would suggest he is well below the -30MM drop on mine.

i dont know why argo and others say 50mm would be scraping here there and everywhere. i manage comfortibly. and they were 50mm eibachs, which should be 50mm as they aren't universal ie, they dont fit jtd or abarth

This was before and after fitting -35mm Pi Springs (measurement is literal ground clearance at the jacking points with average taken for the two sides:

• Average clearance before: Front = 167.5mm Rear = 195mm
• Average clearance after: Front = 135mm Rear = 147mm

Believe me, 135mm will ground on some narrow twisty roads and can be a major pain on some of the more extreme speed bumps :bang: On the other hand if you only keep to motorways and 'A' roads then lack of ground clearance is not an issue. Anything off road then forget it

As I've said before - much happier now to be back on standard - but that could be down to the Pi springs not being the equal to Eibach (and -35mm compared to just a drop of -30mm)

not sure why youv'e qouted me as mine is 170mm front and 200mm rear after the eibachs -30 have been fitted. guessing that they must have been more like 200mm front and 230mm rear as standard.will it make a difference if people have much larger/smaller alloys/tyres than came standard.on an old car i swapped to very low profile tyres from 70series and car dropped a fair bit.just a thought if someones gone up from 15" to 18" and not running rubber band tyres the car would be an inch higher as well as speedo out.
just checked coyles photos and height looks very similar judging by gap around alloys as hard compare as i dont have side skirts.will add pic tonite when home.

Fortunately, it's not the sill that ever makes contact as other stuff under the car hangs lower. Hit the underside of mine really hard with rocks and concrete speed bumps during the 6 months it was lowered but fortunately no lasting damage but was quite concerned by the gearbox (it's pretty low and exposed)

My measurement is to the seam on the sill and not the flat underside by the way. Would normally expect the 5 door to have more clearance by default but could easily be wrong on that :chin:

BTW, big mistake to muck around changing the total rolling radius using incorrect alloy/tyre combinations on a Stilo as it can mess up system like ASR & ESP aside from just speedo errors.
