Hello, I have a 2-liter 16 valve Tempra, the engine works fine but occasionally the fuel injection fault light lights up on the dash. I used a 3 pin to OBD2 converter with a VAGKKL 409.1 usb interface with IAW-Scan2. I can connect to the ECU but all of the values are wrong and random like there are random faults that come and go instantly and they are weird faults like EEPROM Error, Idle Valve Shorted to +VCC etc. most of the random faults are +VCC short faults but the car runs and drives just fine. The ECU has been tampered before to remove the FIAT Code immobilizer. Also the diagnostic connector on my car while it is a 3 pin socket there are only 2 wires connected to it. I know my VAGKKL interface works because I tried it on another car and it works fine. I tried MultiECUScan too however it just failed to connect.

Thanks.

I researched a bit and found the middle pin in the 3 pin connector should be ground. I checked continuity with multimeter on my 3 pin adapter and the middle pin is indeed ground but the 3 pin diagnostic port on my car there are only two wires and one of the wires is in the middle where ground should be. I'm guessing this is why I have random errors while connecting as I don't think it even connects to the ECU. If anyone has any ideas please help me diagnose my car.

Make sure you are attempting to connect to the correct 3pin engine ecu connector.
There are other 3pin connectors hanging around to confuse

It's normal 2 wires because most Fiat don't use L-Line, only K and ground, so it should be 2 wires.
If middle is ground then ok, other is K. Issues connecting is because most programs don't recognize 4Q ecu (Examiner, Uniscan).

I looked around and this is the only 3 pin connector in there also the 3 pin connector on the car is a bit different than my 3 pin adapter like where the little clip should go is different on my adapter. I actually can connect to it using the IAW-Scan2 program but every value and error is random and doesn't make sense at all. I'll take it to a garage that can diagnose it and see how they do it.

I haven't but if I recall correctly the 3 pin connector for these cars are near the ECU under the glove box which is there. I'll check it though.
