Just fitted EBC GreenStuff pads and turbo groove discs to the front of my T-Jet. Done about 100 miles with them now, but the squeaking is loud and always happens under light braking.

I haven't done any hard braking on them yet as they're still new, just usual around town braking, no sudden stops.

The pads did have the shims on the pack already fitted, so I didn't put any copaslip or anything on them. I also thoroughly cleaned up the back of the calipers with a wire brush and a small blade.

I searched and found a lot about GreenStuff pads squeaking, but all of the posts didn't mention any shims, as they were the older pads.

I'm not ready to bin the brakes yet or anything, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience to share, or point out something I've done wrong.

I fitted new pads the other day, Ferodo ones, and they do the same. Squeaking under light braking but I did put coppergrease on them.

You do have to take it easy over the first 100+miles or so but theres only so cautious and light you can be.

Strange yours does it with new discs aswell as that solved the squeaking on my old G.P . If you have any luck let me know!

I know what you mean! If someone pulls out on me I'm not gonna have a second thought to be gentle with the brakes :p

No chance of quiet brakes without copperslip tbh even with shims Don't be shy with it!

I'd heard that with the shims you weren't supposed to put any copperslip because it might mess them up, I'll try it if the noise doesn't improve though, nothing to lose!

You might find they still squeek. My old greenstuff used to squeak under breaking all the time really, unless realy hot.

I have been in contact with EBC customer services regarding how disapointed i am with the constantly squeaking brakes and they have offered to send me some anti squeak shims that stick on the back of the pads.

So far i have found EBC's customer services to be very helpful and they reply quickly to emails. Time will tell if the shims work, hopfully i will get the shims throught some time next week and get them fitted asap as the noise is very anoying.

Yes Peter I've read some of your posts about them, mine already had the shims fitted to the back of the pads though, that's why I was concerned. Strange that yours didn't come with them at all, I know the older ones didn't, but I think they all do now.

I've just put copperslip on the edge bits like you said Dave, about to go and give it a try now

Well the good news is the pads don't make any noise whilst braking anymore.

However when I'm driving along I can hear noise coming from the brakes, sounds like crickets chirping really quickly, and it gets faster the faster I drive.

Makes good reading as i have just brought a set for my Stilo. Mine come with stick on shims and some you cut to size?

Will let you know what the outcome is when i drive. But must say as DJSparky said, i use lots of copperease every place that metal touches metal except for the Pads and Disc...
never had a problem with screaming brakes, but we will see.

My brakes do that now, only at less than about 30mph though. I think its because i need new discs and pads - definately interested to see the outcome tho David

mine whine a little just as your stopping, very light braking at under 8mph, turbo groove and greenstuff, warm them up, just what you gotta get used to with performance brakes i guess, should hear evos lol, unbearable, plus they need a lot more bedding in time than 100 miles
